It is difficult for me because I prefer to speak in Spanish.

I want to save up more money and then buy a new car.
How is life in the U.S. different from life in your country?
The U.S. is very different because things are more expensive. But the quality of goods are higher than in my country.
What was your first day in the U.S. like?
It was confusing and I didn't know how to get to my apartment from the airport.

I drive everywhere. I live in a remote area so everyone needs a car to get around.
Do you think people in the U.S. are friendly? Why or why not?
No, because no one ever talks to me in Walmart. People in The United States are not very friendly.
What do you want your children to learn about your culture?
I want my children to learn that even though we live In The United States, we are Mexican people and have an interesting history and culture.

I came with my daughter and my husband.
What do you do on weekends?
On the weekends I like to cook at home and on Sundays I go to church with my family.

I like to listen to traditional Mexican music.
How has your English improved since you arrived?
Yes, my English has improved because I have been going to English class for 2 years now.
What advice would you give to a new immigrant?
You need to learn about the country you are in, make local friends and learn the language.

I've lived in The United States for 3 years.

The American foods I like are hotdogs, pizza and hamburgers.
What is your job or what kind of job do you want?
I want a job as a farm manager. Right now I work picking apples in an apple orchard.
What do you think is the most difficult part of learning English?
I think speaking is the most difficult part because it is difficult to pronounce many words.
Do you celebrate holidays from your country here? How?
Yes, I celebrate Cinco De Mayo every year with my family and other people from Mexico who live in The United States.

I love the food in The United States and the job opportunities.

I speak mostly Spanish at home because my family is all from Mexico.

I live in Lyndonville now. it's a small town and it is very beautiful.

I have learned that Americans like to "go dutch." That means they like to pay for things separately.
Have you ever felt homesick? What did you do?
Yes, last year I felt homesick. When I feel homesick I cook traditional food from my country and eating it makes me feel like I am home again.
