Impersonation Scams
You receive a message from an unknown number, claiming to be a friend, saying their phone has ran out of battery and they desperately need money, with a link that asks for your details and passwords and bank information
The red flags are:
- Unknown number
- Link asking for personal information and passwords
- Creating a sense of urgency
The first step that you should take if you've been scammed

Mecca asks for you to make your payment through a very random method that is hard to trace, however, you've already made the payment and received the product.
Red Flags:
- A business asking for to make your payment a wired way
- Hard to trace method
- You already received your parcel
- The business is assumably a scammer pretending to be the business.

You receive a call from a 'government official' claiming that you are going to be arrested and potentially deported unless you pay money immediately. Then they send you a link which asks for all your information

- Government impersonation scam
- Being threatened that something is going to happen if you don't provide money
- Getting a link that eventually asks for your bank details
- A sense of urgency in the texts
Change all your passwords enable two-factor authentication and check to see if anything else has been broken-in-to or scammed.
Phishing
You receive a DM for Mr Beast on Instagram. The message says that you've been selected into one of his challenges where you could win potentially 500 000, however to get in you need to provide your bank information so that you can get a complimentrey 10k, however when you click into the account it only has 1 follower.
The Red Flags:
- Pretending to be someone influential
- Getting DM'ed on Instagram from a fake account
- A link saying that if you put in your details you will get money
