Why did people hire children as workers?
Because it was cheaper, they needed the money (therefore needing the job), and they could use them to fix machines.
Why did some people continue to work in factories, despite knowing the dangers?
Why couldn't children attend school for long or at all?
Often times full families had to work, and there wasn't time or money available to let kids be educated.
What were some of the dangerous things people experienced while working at/in factories?
Loss of limbs, serious injury, sickness/illness (Cotton Lung, the flu, Cholera, Typhus), abuse, & exposure to harmful chemicals/metals.
