An ant went to a river to take a drink. The river rushed by and almost drowned the
ant. A dove saw the ant’s struggle. The dove plucked a leaf and dropped it into the
river near the ant. The ant climbed onto the leaf and floated safely to the shore.

Owen Riley was not having a good day. In fact, it was an awful day. Everyone
was mad at Owen all day. The only good thing was that the day would soon be
over. Owen got into his pajamas and slid under the covers. Maybe reading a

Dad and Kim got everything ready. They spread old newspapers on the
kitchen floor. Dad put the big pumpkin on the paper. He cut the top off with
a big knife. Then he scooped out all the seeds.
