Throughout his career he has received several accolades , including the Academy Award for Best Suppoting Actor for his performance in "Hannah and Her Sisters" and "Cider House Rules". Caine was also knighted be Queen Elizabeth II in 2002.

SLAPPED HOST CHRIS ROCK - During the 94th Academy Awards, actor Will Smith walked on stage and slapped comedian Chris Rock across the face during Rock's presentation. Chris Rock made a joke about Will Smith's wife who suffers from a skin condition, called alopecia, which causes hair loss. Smith walked onto the stage from his front-row seat and took a swing at Rock. Chosen as "the Moment of the Year".

During this World Cup, that was held in Qatar, a total of 80 national soccer teams competed. DECLINE OF THE COCOA PRODUCTION -  The International Cocoa Organization revealed the cocoa processing activities have decreases in main cocoa-consumption. The Ivory Coast cocoa crisis shows consequences of dwindling supply meeting demand. There is a shortage of cocoa beans, and like other food shortages in 2023, climate change is a key contributor. Cocoa can only grow in very specific environmental conditions.

SEPTEMBER 8, 2022 - on this date the former Queen of the United Kingdom died at the age of 96 at Balmoral Castle in Ballater, Scotland.
The United Kingdom observed a national mourning period of 10 days, during which time 250,000 people queued to pay their respects.
The state funeral service was held at Westminster Abbey on September 19.

BEDBUGS PANIC - Amid a growing panic among both Parisians and travelers, the French Health Minister pleaded with the public to remain calm. There has been a flurry of headlines and social media accounts documenting the bedbug paranoia in Paris and has since spread to other cities including London. It went as far as media saying that the 2024 Summer Olympics, which will be held in Paris, were being canceled because of the bedbug situation.

Annual festival that's being held this weekend in Bala, Ontario.

BALA CRANBERRY FESTIVAL -  The Bala Cranberry Festival is an event that can't be missed. The harvest season runs from late September to late October, but the Festival weekend is a special time because the whole town of 700 people get involved in celebrating the harvest. Activities at the Farm & Winery are: Wagon Tours, Wine Tasting, Cranberry Plunge( wading into a sea of floating cranberries).

Country that was named after a tree.

BRAZIL - Brazil is the largest country in South America, taking up half of the continent. In the 1500s the Portuguese discovered the land and named it after a local growing plant called "pau-brazil". The red sap was used to colour cloth and became highly in demand in Europe from the 16th century on. Today, the brazilwood tree is considered to be endangered and its wood is very expensive, used for instrument strings, like the violin and cello.

PADDINGTON BEAR - Paddington was not previously closely associated with the queen, except in books, but that changed after Buckingham Palace came up with an idea to film the Queen acting opposite the bear to launch her televised Jubilee concert. Paddington has been popping up everywhere among the tributes to the Queen. It all stems from a sketch during the Platinum Jubilee, when the monarch and the bear made an unlikely but heartwarming pair.

THE RING OF FIRE - also referred to as the Pacific Ring of Fire, is a region around much of the rim of the Pacific Ocean. The Ring of Fire is a horse-shoe shaped belt about 40,000 km long and up to 500 km wide. It contains approximately 800 volcanoes that have been active since the end of the "ice-age" (11,500 years ago).

Annual marathon that's being held in Toronto today.

TORONTO WATERFRONT MARATHON - The Toronto Waterfront Marathon is an annual race held in Toronto in October. The Marathon course is fast, downhill, and scenic. Starting at Yonge and Sheppard in North York and finishing at Exhibition Place, the Marathon winds through many of the city's great neighbourhoods. Over 25,000 runners from 78 countries are expected to participate in the finale of the Canada Running Series.

Animal that is known to spend 90% of its day sleeping.

KOALA - koala bears are well-known for their large round head, big furry ears and big black nose. Their main source of food is eucalyptus. The eucalyptus is toxic, so the koala's digestive system has to work hard to digest it. That's why koala's sleep so much - they get very little energy from their diet. Tucked into forks or nooks in the trees, koalas may sleep from 18 to 22 hours a day.
