MACY'S THANKSGIVING DAY PARADE - With an estimated 3 million attendees, the Macy's Parade in New York is known as the most famous parade in the world. In the 1920s, a lot of Macy's employees were first generation European immigrants. They wanted to celebrate Thanksgiving Day with the type of festival they loved and cherished back home. The first parade took place in 1924 when they called it  Macy's Christmas Parade. The parade was held just by store employees and the hope was the celebration would influence customers to shop for the coming Christmas holiday.

In the spot, a trio of elderly women admiring a large hamburger bun, but their moods fall when they lift the top half and find a distressingly small beef patty.

World's most dangerous bird emerged from ocean of Australia coast.

CASSOWARY - An enormous creature - considered by some to be the "world's most dangerous bird" -- shocked beachgoers in Bingil Bay, Australia as it rose from the water, shook itself off and eventually left the area on its own.  Called a cassowary the towering, flightless bird is related and somewhat similar in appearance to an ostrich or emu, and can grow to be as tall as a human person.While they cannot fly, cassowaries are strong swimmers and, on land they can run up to 34km an hour.

LINDA - In 2014, Saudi Arabia released a list of 50 names new parents were banned from giving their children. The reason: the names contradicted the culture and religion of the kingdom, were foreign, or were simply deemed "inappropriate." Linda, which was the most popular name in the United States for girls in the late '40s and early '50s, was among the banned names thanks to its clearly Western origins.

WHITE CASTLE - Founded in 1921, White Castle is an American regional hamburger restaurant chain. It has been generally credited as the world's first fast-food hamburger chain, known for its small, square hamburgers referred to as "sliders". The burgers were initially priced at 5 cents until 1929. In the 1940s, White Castle periodically ran promotional ads offering five burgers for ten cents, takeout only. TIME Magazine named the White Castle slider "The Most Influential Burger of All Time".

It was November 17, 1869 that a 193-kilometer waterway through Egypt opened. 

SUEZ CANAL - The 193-kilometer Suez Canal was dug by enslaved people financed by France and coveted by Britain. About 1.5 million people worked on the canal's construction, first by hand and later using dredging machinery. The cost of US$100 million was twice the estimate and the six-year time frame became 10 years, slowed by waether, cholera outbreaks, worker fatalities and other features of forced labour. Egypt finally declared control of the canal in 1956.

This week, the Royal Canadian Mint ushered in a new coin in the history of Canadian coins.

HIS MAJESTY KING CHARLES III - Since opening its doors in 1908, the Royal Canadian Mint has featured the portrait of the reigning monarch on Canadian coins. The 2023-dated $1 circulation coin becomes the first displaying the portrait of a new monarch in 70 years, after the Queen Elizabeth II graced Canada's coins from 1953 - 2023.
The Mint plans to begin circulating a small volume of coins by this December.

CASSOWARY - The incident was reported in the Bingil Bay, Australia a couple of weeks ago. Cassowaries are flightless birds, the can not fly and barely swim, maybe just to cross a river. The enormous bird was seen swimming in the bay. After emerging on land, the most dangerous bird rested beneath the shade of a tree, its legs shaking from apparent exhaustion. The endangered species can grow to be as tall as a human, can do a lot of damage if they are provoked. They will eat anything they can get their beaks around, including reptiles, mammals, and fish. Name of the meteor shower that is annually active in the month of November.

LEONID METEOR -The Leonid meteor shower is annually active in the month of November and it usually peaks around the middle of the month. The annual autumn shower kicked off on November 3 and carries through December 2. Stargazers had the greatest opportunity to see shooting stars during the peak of the shower, which took place last Friday night, mostly visible in Vancouver where it rained "fireballs". Its meteors can reach a speed of 44 miles per second, according to NASA.

TO ELIMINATE THE UNHEALTHY CONNOTATION OF "FRIED" from its name - In 1991, the KFC name was officially adopted, although it had already been widely known by the initialism. GREY CUP - The Grey Cup is the championship game of the Canadian Football League. The Toronto Argonauts have the most Grey Cup wins (18) since its introduction on 1909. The Grey Cup game is Canada's largest annual sports and television event. The trophy was commissioned in 1909 by The Earl Grey, a British peer and politician who served as Governor General of Canada 1904 - 1911.
The Grey Cup game starts today at 6pm and is being played at Tim Hortons Field in Hamilton.

The smile is known around the world, and in the U.S. Ronald McDonald is second only to Santa Claus.
