"Tell me about yourself"
It's important to highlight your strengths to the employer and mention traits that are relevant to the position you are applying for!
"Why do you want this job?"
Don't just say "for money" - talk about why you decided to apply at that specific company over any other place that's hiring, for example : "I applied to Home Hardware because I used to do a lot of construction projects with my dad as a kid, and am pretty knowledgeable on this sort of stuff."
"How do you handle feedback?"
Remember they're your supervisor; they make sure you do your job in the best way, so feedback isn't an attack, it's constructive.
"What kind of supports will help you succeed?"
Be honest and specific if you know what would help you in your role, and feel free to ask what sort of supports would be able to be made possible.
"What are some things you struggle with?"
Remember, an interview is NOT a confession; you don't have to share anything you don't feel comfortable.
"What are your strengths?"
Here is a great time to answer with some of your best qualities to really impress your employer - but make sure it's skills relevant to the position you are applying for!
"Can you handle the responsibilities of this role?"
Assuming you read the job description before applying, this should be an easy yes, however now would be a good opportunity to ask the employer to elaborate on expectations.
"What does a good work environment look like for you?"
What sort of accommodations will make the work environment ideal, what are your expectations from your boss?
"What happens when your overwhelmed?"
Just tell the truth, but try think of a time at work when you were faced with difficult emotions, not a time in your personal life.
"Tell me about a time you've had to advocate for yourself"
It's ok if you've never had to, but if you're asked, try think of a time you stood up for yourself or even ask for clarification on something!
"What are your weaknesses?"
This is a good time to be honest, but there's no need to be extensive. Provide some brief explanation of your struggles that may impact your working ability.
"Do you need any accommodations?"
It's important to be honest here! What would best help YOU succeed?
"How do you handle fast-paced environments?"
Just be honest!
"Why did you leave your last job?"
Be open but you don't need to go into explicit detail.
"How do you handle tasks you find challenging?"
What supports do you need, how do you handle a problem, would you go to your supervisor?
"Why should we hire you?"
Talk about your best qualities, work history, or anything that comes to mind that is relevant to the position your applying for.
"How do handle stress or anger while working?"
Be honest about what triggers these emotions for you, and discuss with your employer how you can best help yourself to stay calm and collected.
"What do you do if you don't understand instructions?"
Be honest and remember it is totally ok to ask for clarification on something.
"What concerns do you have about this role?"
You can talk about your disability if you want to, but you DON'T have to! You can even be open about difficulties you may have with getting there on time or not knowing what's expected of you.
"Are you a team-leader or follower?"
Be honest! Every team needs all types of people.
"Do you have a disability?"
You can tell your employer if you want to, but you do not owe anyone your medical details. If your disability will severely impact your capabilities with the job, it may be worth mentioning.
"Describe a time you overcame a challenge"
It can even be something small like standing up for yourself when your afraid to, but make sure you share a story that highlights your best qualities that an employer would look for.
"What would you do if you were struggling in this role?"
Did you ask for help, clarification, or advice?
"Can you explain this gap in your resume?"
If there's time between your jobs someone hiring may notice this and ask you about it. It's important that you tell the truth, but you don't have to be very explicit.
"Are you a good communicator?"
Be truthful, but highlight times you have been a good communicator.
