Pieces of text that provide information on parts within an assembly.
Annotations
A 3D shape created from a 2D sketch using modeling features.
Body
A limitation on components used to create relationships between components.
Constraint
A flat angle along the edge of a part or between the edge and specified face of a part.
Chamfer
A line of text that communicates additional details about how a design is to be manufactured.
Drawing Note
A composition of part files within an Inventor file. Ends with file extension .iam.
Assembly File
An operation that can add, remove, or intersect material in a solid.
Boolean Operation
A flat-bottomed enlargement for a hole, allowing the top of a fastener to be flush with the material's surface.
Counterbore
A tool used to place images on selected models of a 3D body.
Decal
A feature found in the Model Browser that signifies the end of features for a part file. Can be positioned at various points in the model to add or remove features at various points in a model's creation.
End of Part Marker (EOP)
The default file type for AutoCAD, which can consist of several elements that comprise a 2D drawing. Inventor can save drawing files in this format for connectivity with AutoCAD. Ends with file extension .dwg.
AutoCAD Drawing File
An annotation that indicates the location of the geometric center of a circle or arc.
Center Mark
A conical enlargement for a hole, allowing for a tapered fastener to be flush with the material's surface.
Countersink
The amount of directional and rotational movement allowed for a part.
Degrees of Freedom
A command which adds length to lines from a sketch.
Extend
Callouts that signify part identifiers within a drawing.
Balloons
An annotation line that indicates an axis of symmetry.
Centerline
A selection method performed by selecting and dragging from right to left. Any items that are touched by the crossing window will be selected.
Crossing Selection
An enlarged view of all or a portion of another view.
Detail View
A feature that allows a 2D sketch to have one or more of its parts turned into a 3D model.
Extrusion
The default view for a drawing.
Base View
A tool used to create a new body from multiple selected bodies.
Combine
A line on a section view that passes through the object, showing where the object is being cut.
Cutting Plane Line
Defined measurements for pieces within a part.
Dimensions
The general term for categorizing all 3D modeling commands such as Extrude, Revolve, Sweep, Loft, etc.
