100

In this leaf venation, the veins do not cross each other.

What is parallel?

100

In plants, this provides food to cells that don't make their own food.

What is sap?

100

Where does the product of oxygen go in photosynthesis?

A - into the air

P - into the phloem

X - into the xylem

A - Into the air

100

Part 1 of the circulatory system.

Lungs

Your lungs are the main organ in the respiratory system but they work with the circulatory system to get oxygen to all your cells.

100

Why does blood need to circulate through the lungs?

To remove carbon dioxide from the blood and add oxygen to the blood.

200

In this leaf venation, there is a central vein running up the leaf with other veins branching off the central vein.

What is pinnate?

200

Sap travels along these lines in the diagram.

What is red?

200

Where does the product of water go in photosynthesis?

A - into the air

P - into the phloem

X - into the xylem

A & P - into the air and into the phloem

200

Part 2 of the circulatory system.

Heart

Your heart is a four chamber pump for your circulatory system.

200

What do red blood cells do?

Carry oxygen to the cells.

300

In this leaf venation, the veins branch off from the base of the leaf from the stem.

What is palmate?

300

Water and nutrients travel along these lines in the diagram.

What is black?

300

Where does the product of sugar go in photosynthesis?

A - into the air

P - into the phloem

X - into the xylem

P - into the phloem

300

Part 3 of the circulatory system.

Artery

Arteries carry blood away from the heart to other parts of your body.

300

How are the circulatory system in animals and the vascular system in plants similar?

Both systems transport nutrients to cells.

Both systems use water-based solutions to transport nutrients and waste to and from cells.

400

These tubes carried the water to make the leaves and stem of the celery red.

What are xylem tubes?

400

These tubes in plants transport materials in one direction only.

What are xylem tubes?

400

True or False

Carbon Dioxide, Nitrogen, and Light are all products of photosynthesis?

False - Carbon Dioxide and Light are needed for photosynthesis but they are not products that result in photosynthesis.

400

Part 4 of the circulatory system.

Vein

Veins carry blood from the cells back to the right side of the heart.

400

How are the circulatory system in animals and the vascular system in plants different from each other?

Plants have roots and soak up the water from the ground.  They also have two tissues to move nutrients, water and waste, the xylem and phloem and their nutrients aren't recycled.

Animals use their circulatory system to move nutrients to the cells and waste out of the cells and the nutrients and cells are recycled throughout the system.

500

This is the process by which extra water evaporates from tiny holes in the leaves.

What is transpiration?

500

These tubes in plants transport materials to every part of the plant.

What are phloem tubes?

500
True or False:  Photosynthesis occurs in plants and animals.

False - Photosynthesis only occurs in plants.

500

Part 5 of the circulatory system.

Capillaries

Capillaries are tiny blood vessels that deliver the blood that each human cell needs to survive.

500

Why do maple trees need sap?

Sap provides food to maple tree cells that don't make their own food.
