I spend half my time fighting re-weighs and reclasses, but if the shipper is not going to measure/weigh correctly, this is what happens.
If you have proof from the shipper, you can fight it, but it is generally all for not. When I get a reclass/reweigh, I go run it again based on their dims/weights to see what that tariff/carrier would quote and see if they are close to what the new charges are.
I had one go up in dims by 1” x 2” x 3” and weight of 1 lb., it reclassed from class 175 to class 300 and wanted $500 more. It was outrageous. Yes it was SAIA/GLT too!
