This new coach of the Iowa State Football team was hired on November 29th (his birthday). He is only 36 years old but has already been very successful as an NCAA Division 1 coach at Toledo. He grew up in Ohio and played college football at Mount Union. His dad was a high school football at a rival school. Matt's team won the conference championship three consecutive years while he was in high school beating his dad's team. His overall record as a college head coach is 35-15. He is married to Erica and has three children with another on the way this month.

The current coach of the Iowa State Cyclone volleyball team. She is married to Joe, a volunteer assistant for the Cyclones. She was an All-American setter at the Univeristy of Nebraska in 1994 and 1995. She grew up in Omaha, Nebraska and was an assistant at Wisconsin before coming to ISU. She has a record of 228-112 at Iowa State and in the past 11 years as coach has only missed making the NCAA tournament one time (her first season). She has a son named Jamison and a daughter named Addison.

This Roland, Iowa Native is nicknamed "The Roland Rocket" He was the first Iowa State basketball player to score over 1000 points and the first player to score 40 points in a game. He also played shortstop on the Iowa State baseball team and led the Cyclones to the 1957 Colege World Series. After his playing days were over, he started an Oil Company called the (his name) Oil Company. This business venture was made possible by his affiliation as an AAU player with the Bartlesville Phillips 66ers as it we through the Phillips Petroleum Company. He also embarked on a 34-year television broadcasting career - serving as color commentator for college basketball games on NBC and CBS, primarily for Big Eight and later Big 12 games.[2] He retired in 2006.

This running back attended Iowa State from 1993 to 1996. He set numerous Cyclone team records. He became the first running back in NCAA Division I-A history to gain 2,000 yards in two different seasons. He was coached by Jim Walden and Dan McCarney. He was inducted into the Iowa State Sports Hall of Fame in 2007 and the NCAA College Football Hall of Fame this past year. His brother also played for the Cyclones.

This coach coached the Cyclones from 1980-1994. He came to Iowa State from Michigan in 1980. Iowa State's athletics director had called him to inquire about Michigan assistant Bill Frieder. When he learned of the salary Iowa State would offer Frieder, he negotiated the Iowa State head coaching job for himself. This man is is credited with building "Hilton Magic" and laying the foundation for Iowa State's success in men's basketball. He always walked out to the gym to the theme song of a nighttime talk show with his name in the title. His career record as the Cyclones Head coach was 218-200. There is a restaurant/hangout area on the east end of Hilton Coliseum named after this man. He passed away after a fall in his home in 2013 at the age of 86.

He became the first African American football player to play for Iowa State in 1922. He also participated in track at ISU. His major was animal husbandry with the desire to go to the South after graduation, and use his knowledge to help African-American farmers. His dream job was to eventually teach Southern black farmers about modern farming. In the summer after his freshman year at the age of 20, he married Cora Mae Starland, who was only 15. They both found jobs in order to support themselves through school. He died as a result of a football injury during a game against Minnesota in 1923. During the second play of the game his collarbone was broken. He insisted he was all right and returned to the game. In the third quarter, while attempting to tackle a University of Minnesota ball carrier by throwing a roll block, he was trampled by three Minnesota players. Although he claimed to be fine, he was removed from the game and sent to a Minneapolis hospital. The doctors declared him fit to travel and he returned by train to Ames with his teammates. On October 8, 1923, he died from hemorrhaged lungs and internal bleeding as a result of the injuries sustained during the game. The football stadium at Iowa State is named after him.

Stephanie McCannon Weise played volleyball at Iowa State from 1992-1995 under coach Jackie Nunez. During this time she was a four year starter and led ISU in many categories and has some records that still stand today. She is a 2003 inductee into the Iowa Girls' High School Athletic Union Volleyball Hall of Fame and has a daughter who is a freshman this year at Tipton High School where she is the statistical leader on both the volleyball and basketball teams. The Cyclones' Men's Basketball team made it to the Final Four in 1944. This is the only season they have made this deep of a run into the NCAA tournament.
