What is the first step in problem solving? What do you have to do first?

Take a deep breath - or many. Calm your body down first.

What makes a good friend?

Kindness, loyalty, trust, fun, taking their perspective so you can help them when needed, standing up for your friends, limiting unnecessary drama that causes stress, etc.

What happens to people's bodies when they are anxious?

Racing heart

Cramps

Headache

Stomach ache

FIGHT or FLIGHT

What should you do if your closest friend doesn't want to talk to you

Take a deep breath. Find out what happened. Was there a fight or something that was said that could have been hurtful? Think of ways you can find out (if you don't already know) and re-gain your friends trust. Communicate how you feel and do your best to repair things if your goal is to keep the relationship.

What is positive self talk and why does it matter?

Essentially, it thinking positively. Instead of saying, I know Jamie is going to be so rude to me today, you can say sometimes friends do things I can't control, but today I'm going to feel great and spend time with Henry and Autumn who always make me feel good.

It matters because your thoughts control how you feel about things.

300

Do you have control over your thoughts? If so, how?

Yes you do!

You can change your thinking to be more positive if you are being too black/white, imagining the worst or predicting something bad will happen when it might not.

What should you do if someone takes something partially truthful, but not fully, and shares it with several friends at school?

First, take a deep breath. Try to calm your mind and body before you respond. Think about why they are doing this. Is there something that they are feeling hurt about that you can help solve? Own the part that is true and be clear about what isn't. Honesty is best here. Talk to a trusted friend if needed, but handle talking to the person who did this on your own so you can keep it drama free.

Why is it important to learn strategies to make sure anxiety doesn't become too overwhelming?

We all get anxious. Everyone does. It is important to learn strategies to control it so that it doesn't control you. Anxiety gets bigger and bigger unless you do something about it to take your control back and show your anxiety that you are actually the one in control.

400

What is tone of voice and why does it matter?

It is how you say what you are saying - how loud or quiet, how rude or kind you sound when you say things.

It matters because it affects how people perceive you and what you are saying.

What do you think you should do if you have a fight with your mom at home?

Stop, take a breath before you say something you don't mean.

Try to think about ways to make the problem smaller. Be sure to think about how you feel and how the other person feels. Share how you feel and find a way to compromise. Always try to repair things if they don't go well.

How do you control anxiety?

You can control anxiety through using coping strategies and practicing positive self-talk. It also helps to try things that make you a bit anxious, because it builds your confidence. If you avoid things that worry you, the worry often gets bigger.

Why does my facial expression need to match my emotion?
What we do with our face when we are talking to people is that helps them understand how we feel. If they don't match (i.e saying something sad with a smile on our face), people will think we are not authentic or don't care, even if we do.
