He is saying that the things he writes will be of great value to many and to future generations.  Strong "sharp" words meaning all those who seek and ponder on the things he writes will greatly benefit from them.

It represents a time when the Earth will not have the gospel of Jesus Christ and His authority and revelation.  As the desert "blooms" this then represents the beauty of the restored truth returned to earth!  Apostasy to Restoration!
