The protection of the data is the most important job of the Systems and Networking division.
Through our backup policies 3 copies of each of these 1.8M files are maintained. One copy at our data center at AMC, one at our data center at Tallyn's reach and one at an off-site location.

and is used to send alerts to a Fire Station
for an E911 call.

What is Zetron?

The Zetron system automatically sends an alert “tone” from CAD
to the appropriate Fire Station based on the type and location of the
emergency event. In addition, there is a redundant radio based “manual”
backup system for toning, too. These 2 alerting systems help
the Fire Dept. meet the national insurance standards and reduce the
cost of insurance for citizens.

What is 7:00 pm?

As a part of the Green Initiative, all unattended desktops will be automatically shutdown to save power consumption at night.

You will see this prompt at 7:00pm. To continue working and defer the shutdown 1 hour, click on "Postpone Shutdown" and click "Take Action"


Also, all city PC's are automatically powered on at 6:45am each morning so workstations are ready to go when employees arrive.

The city uses a "honey pot" method to attract
intrustion attempts from virtually every country.
These attacks are generated from computers which have been compromised
by malware or viruses. Our web filtering is used to identify
city computers that may be infected by malware or viruses.

The IT Department Radio Shop maintains over 3000 Public Safety radios,
both handheld and in vehicle, for our Police and Fire department users.
Police and Fire users generate this number of radio transmissions monthly.

There are now 8 fixed and 12 in car LPR cameras being supported by IT for PD. The system read over 12 million plates last year. IT also supports 50 body worn video cameras for the Police Dept. as well.
