What is a way to recognize individuals for demonstrating the core values that can be used/accumulated for something (can be less frequent than daily)?
Teacher/classroom nominates and recognizes one “Student of the Week” during Friday Morning Meeting based upon demonstration of CORE value(s). Monthly- Names of Students of the week will be put into a jar to be entered into a monthly drawing to earn extra recess, lunch with a staff member, dress down day, bring in favorite thing, wear favorite hat/house shoes, etc. (25 student names drawn). Out of the “Students of the Week” pool, 4 students will be chosen to make announcements on Thursday (2 students) and Friday (2 students) in regards to how they demonstrated the core value and/or Paths lesson of the week.

Ask the student who does not meet the expectation what he/she needs in order to choose to do the right thing in the situation. Meet his or her need. If still not successful, remind the student who does not meet the expectation that he/she has the choice to do the right thing

What is a way to recognize classes for meeting expectations that can be used/accumulated for something (can be less frequent than daily)?
All Staff will nominate a “Class of the Week” by Friday afternoon Golden Plunger Award- Weekly award given to the cleanest classroom to be determined by Maria Moore. Golden Spoon Award- Weekly award given to classrooms exemplifying Core Values in the lunchroom to be determined by cafeteria staff and supervisors. Monthly- Classes of the week, Golden Plunger and Golden Spoon recipients will be put into a jar to be entered into a monthly drawing for two classes to earn a classroom spirit day (theme determined by the teacher and class) to happen the next week.

How will we teach the expectations matrix?
How will we teach the expectations matrix? Within the first week of school, the Expectations Matrix is expected to be taught to all students within the classroom. Matrix will be referred to after breaks (thanksgiving, winter, spring, long weekends) to be re-taught As the Expectations Matrix is taught and student demonstrates that they can follow the expectations, the student gets it stamped. (example is shown below. There is an added column for teachers to stamp) Parent signature required once all columns are stamped first class to get all Expectations Matrix signed gets a reward :) Students save signed and stamped Expectations Matrix for a reference all year

What is the process and space expectation in each classroom for students to use to cool down, refocus their energy, be retaught an expectation and accept a consequence?
o All instructional spaces must have a cool down spot within the classroom that has few distractions (materials, other students, etc…) o Cool down spot should be designated (with a sign) with Control Signals and cool down strategies along with a space to complete a REFOCUS sheet/PATHS-My Problem Page o Within the classroom, give student enough time to calm down, reflect and become visibly ready to rejoin the group o Make time to review the REFOCUS sheet/My Problem Page with student o If student needs to REFOCUS in a buddy teacher’s room, send student with a destination, time, and initials(signature) on the top of the REFOCUS form/My Problem Page to serve as their pass (Buddy Teacher should be in close proximity- next door or across the hall) Student should REFOCUS for no more than 10 minutes. Buddy teacher will initial and write time on REFOCUS sheet and return student to class

Admin will investigate offense: - Statements (participants and witnesses) - Involve appropriate parties (parents, DPS Security, DPD and /or FIre Dept.)- meet if needed - Assign consequence/ intervention - Document in IC Admin will communicate result via teacher copy of completed referral and e-mailed resolutions o Admin will call parent/ guardian to inform of behavior/ referral/ consequence-intervention
