Explain the difference between a regular tour/group tour, VIP tour, and VVIP tour.

  1. Regular/ group tour does not require exclusive access to spaces (unless group is over 20 people), or line cutting

  2. VIP requires privatized access to James Turrell, Massless Clouds, and the Es Devlin film room.

  3. VVIP groups need additional assistance from guides. Assuring that no guests disrupt the guest experience by approaching or taking photos.

400

What are the steps to helping a guest retrieve a sensory kit?

  1. Take the ID of the guardian or HWC guest and place it in the concierge cabinet in exchange for the sensory kit materials, letting them know it will be at the front for the duration of their visit.

  2. Make sure the guest fills out the Sensory Kit Sign Out Form using the QR Code at the front desk.

  3.  Retrieve a sensory tote and check the inside to make sure it contains all inclusions before handing it to the guest.

  4. Once a tote is brought back to the front desk, make sure everything is returned.

What is the ganzfeld effect?

The Ganzfeld effect, enhanced by sensory deprivation, can cause hallucinations such as perceiving infinite space or seeing fog. Experiences vary, with some guests seeing colorless specks, known as form constants, as the brain tries to interpret depth and orientation. Turrell’s use of diffused and direct light immerses viewers in a unique sensory experience, altering perceptions of space, depth, and time.

What should be done differently when a VIP tour, Group/regular tour, or VVIP tour enters Clouds/Pulse/Turrell?

VIP/VVIP tours have the Clouds and Turrell privatized and empty as soon as they arrive. If it is a VVIP, the waiting room of Clouds has to be empty as well. Pulse should have a guide holding the backmost sensor open for the tour. Public/Group tours are subject to waiting their turn and having the public potentially join their group for Clouds/Turrell.
