Each position has an orientation and skills checklist. We validate skills and competence upon hire and as required by position.
How are patients informed of their Rights and Responsibilities?
All new patients are given a copy of Patient Rights and Responsibilities. Patient Rights and Responsibilities are also posted in the reception areas.

Wear name badges, issue visitor name tags, use emergency codes appropriately, keep doors locked at set hours, and use escorts or well-lit paths when leaving late
What do you do if you obtain an injury on the job?
Notify Supervisor, fill out and incident report, notify your supervisor or next level manager for needed f/u and reporting as outlined in the Employee Injury and exposure policy.
What do you do with patients and families during an evacuation of the building?
We calmly evacuate them along with ourselves, seeing them to a safe area.
If you find an unresponsive patient, what do you do?
Call Rapid Response if you are certified perform CPR

How do you protect the confidentiality of patient information?
Use HIPAA-compliant passwords, never share them, sign off from computers, protect patient confidentiality, securing documents, and shredding patient information to avoid disciplinary action
What is the procedure for reporting a safety problem?
We report safety issues or concerns using an Incident Report. We can also take concerns to our supervisor or to an Environment of Care Committee member.

We are trained during orientation, receive yearly updates at department meetings as needed

What will you do if there is a loss of water? Power?
Isolate the area and call maintenance, then retrieve the SDS information and determine the precautions to be used with this chemical. Next, retrieve the spill kit, put on the appropriate Personal Protective Equipment, and follow the directions as outlined on the SDS. (Chemical Spill Response Procedure)
How do you know if a piece of equipment is safe to use?
Check for the preventive maintenance sticker with the date of last service (service is provided yearly), examine the equipment for obvious flaws, make sure cord is intact, and do not use equipment if it does not appear safe to do so.
