These are the three key components CPS workers must assess when determining child safety.

Who is the source of the report?

A 1-year-old who relies completely on a parent/caretaker to ensure all of their needs are met. They are unable to fend for themselves or protect themselves to any degree. They receive this rating of vulnerabilty.
What is a high vulnerability?
CPS should speak to as many as possible while visiting the case address. He/she can provide insight regarding activity seen and/or heard in and around the home? Sometimes the information they provide is useful, sometimes it's not

Safety factor #2 was the only safety factor chosen during the approval of a 7-day safety assessment. An FTM was held and Ms. Avila agreed to services and treatment for her alcohol abuse. During a biweekly visit to the home 6-year-old Chloe was found home alone, scared, unkempt and hungry. She was removed. This needs to be completed to reflect the new safety factors, safety decision and controlling intervention.
What is a safety modification?
When a parent/caretaker is doing everything to protect their child and mitigate the safety issues, they have supports and acknowledge stressors in the family, they receive the rating.
What is high protective capacity?
This collateral is spoken to in order to gather information about a parent/caretaker or child(ren) who have a mental health diagnosis. Our MH consultant, an in-house resource, will usually ask about updates from this person.

Who is Hope Thompson?

What is Safety Factor # 16?
The father and children reside in the home. The mother who has MH issues, is not in treatment, often comes to the home extremely hostile, causing a scene and the police have to be called. She ignores the current orders of protection. The children are afraid, she has attacked them while leaving out of the residence unprovoked.
What is a "high" threat if harm?
Useful to gather information, referrals, and CBO information when a child and/or parent/caregiver has cognitive/developmental/physical ailments. They participate in CSC's, FTM's and MDT's.
What is the Developmental Disability Unit?
