Most work can be submitted late for partial credit. The SHS English Department policy states that a student will lose an entire letter grade for each school day an assessment (essay, project, test) is late.

Total points - point value will vary by task, amount of points will vary by quarter.
How should students prepare for class discussions?
Come prepared to participate every day. Show that you’ve read the assigned text so we can explore it together.
How does the homework policy change from Quarter 1 to Quarter 4?
Q1- I will remind you and help you get all HW in for full credit if fully completed. Q2- I will remind you to submit late tasks for partial credit if fully completed. Q3 - Partial credit for late tasks that are fully completed. I will not remind you to submit them. Q4 - No late HW accepted, except with an excused absence.

Extra help is available during unit lunch or at a mutually agreeable time.

Saying, “I don’t know yet,” is completely fine—it means you’re still thinking and making sense of the material. This class isn’t about having all the answers

We will have whole class discussions, small group work, and independent activities.

What behaviors are considered disrespectful or disruptive in this classroom?
Respectful conduct is required at all times. Disrespect toward me or anyone else will not be accepted. This includes speaking while someone else has the floor. Similarly, behavior that interrupts our work is not okay.
