The prophet in his talk spoke 1st about the resurrection. Who on the earth will be resurrected? (ex. those who are baptized, those who have in faith in Jesus, those who went through temple?)

Everyone who lives on this earth will be resurrected - "Both bond and free, male and female, the wicked and the righteous" Dallin H Oaks

The prophet called it a "Universal Resurrection"

The first lesson taught normally by the missionaries is about The Restoration. This was needed because of an apostasy that occurred. Explain when the apostasy occurred and what it was?

It occurred after Jesus Christ died. All the other apostles were killed and the authority to continue Christ's church left the earth. Although many people sought for truth, there were many doctrines that were lost and/or altered. This set up the need for a Restoration of Christ's original church.

200

Which priesthood is needed to administer a baptismal ordinance and which priesthood is needed to give someone the Gift of the Holy Ghost after baptism?

Baptism - Aaronic priesthood, office of a priest. This is why the priests can perform the baptisms for the dead in the temple

Holy Ghost  - Melchizedek Priesthood, this is why only the adult men perform this ordinance in the temple

300

Who are the prophet's two counselors in the First Presidency?

1st Counselor - Henry B. Eyring

Elder Redlund shared a story about his dog. Explain this story and what the main lesson was that he taught from this?

His dog loved chasing balls. The dog never got tired from chasing them. One day he threw two balls for the dog to catch. The dog couldn't decide between which ball to get. He got so overwhelmed retrieving both balls that he eventually gave up. His lesson was to focus on what is most important and prioritize the most important tasks in life, specifically Jesus Christ and his atonement.

As part of the ordinance of giving the Gift of the Holy Ghost, a command is stated in the blessing. "We confirm you a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and say to you _________ the Holy Ghost."

Elder Stevenson spoke about an airport in Japan who never lost passenger luggage. What lesson did he share that we can learn from this story?

He described that we like luggage can feel spiritually lost. He explained that these Japanese workers had made it a priority to not lose luggage. Just like Jesus Christ makes us a priority to ensure that we are never lost from him.

Nephi frequently quotes from an Old Testament prophet and includes many chapters from this prophet in 2 Nephi. What is the name of this Old Testament prophet?

Isaiah

"Now I, Nephi, do speak somewhat concerning the words which I have written, which have been spoken by the mouth of Isaiah. For behold, Isaiah spake many things which were hard for many of my people to understand; for they know not concerning the manner of prophesying among the Jews.

...Behold, my soul delighteth in proving unto my people the truth of the coming of Christ; for, for this end hath the law of Moses been given; and all things which have been given of God from the beginning of the world, unto man, are the typifying of him."

The prophet shared a story about being in a stake conference and calling on a woman to come up and give a talk. He was worried when she started speaking about her topic. Briefly, what personal experience did she share?

She was a nurse and had to take care of a man who was very rude to her and the other nurses caring for him. One day she found him on the floor in a pool of blood. She saw him as a child of God despite all the moments that he had been mean to her. We can do the same with all those who treat us wrong.

500

What is the name of the new apostle that was most recently called?

Clark G. Gilbert - he spoke about how the Savior is always calling for those who are lost to come home to him. He never gives up on us.

In 2 Nephi chapter 2, this chapter famously discusses the importance of there being the Fall of Adam and Eve. Why was it so important that Adam and Eve partake of the fruit and produce this "Fall"?

11 For it must needs be, that there is an opposition in all things. If not so, my firstborn in the wilderness, righteousness could not be brought to pass, neither wickedness, neither holiness nor misery, neither good nor bad. Wherefore, all things must needs be a compound in one; wherefore, if it should be one body it must needs remain as dead, having no life neither death, nor corruption nor incorruption, happiness nor misery, neither sense nor insensibility.

22 And now, behold, if Adam had not transgressed he would not have fallen, but he would have remained in the garden of Eden. And all things which were created must have remained in the same state in which they were after they were created; and they must have remained forever, and had no end.

23 And they would have had no children; wherefore they would have remained in a state of innocence, having no joy, for they knew no misery; doing no good, for they knew no sin.

24 But behold, all things have been done in the wisdom of him who knoweth all things.

25 Adam fell that men might be; and men are, that they might have joy.

Where can you find the invitation in the Book of Mormon that invites us to read and pray about it's teachings and then to ask God if those things are true?

Hint - there are two locations you can find this

1. Moroni chapter 10

3 Behold, I would exhort you that when ye shall read these things, if it be wisdom in God that ye should read them, that ye would remember how merciful the Lord hath been unto the children of men, from the creation of Adam even down until the time that ye shall receive these things, and ponder it in your hearts.

4 And when ye shall receive these things, I would exhort you that ye would ask God, the Eternal Father, in the name of Christ, if these things are not true; and if ye shall ask with a sincere heart, with real intent, having faith in Christ, he will manifest the truth of it unto you, by the power of the Holy Ghost.

2. Introduction to the Book of Mormon

We invite all men everywhere to read the Book of Mormon, to ponder in their hearts the message it contains, and then to ask God, the Eternal Father, in the name of Christ if the book is true. Those who pursue this course and ask in faith will gain a testimony of its truth and divinity by the power of the Holy Ghost. (See Moroni 10:3–5.)

Those who gain this divine witness from the Holy Spirit will also come to know by the same power that Jesus Christ is the Savior of the world, that Joseph Smith is His revelator and prophet in these last days, and that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the Lord’s kingdom once again established on the earth, preparatory to the Second Coming of the Messiah.

After you have done a Baptism and received the Gift of the Holy Ghost for one of your ancestors, what is the next ordinance that is done for that ancestor in the temple?

Initiatory Ordinance (also known as Washing and Anointings) - technically you could say receiving the Priesthood is next

During the Initiatory Ordinance you go into a room where a temple worker lays hands on your head and you receive the Melchizedek priesthood for your ancestor. You then are washed with water and anointed symbolically in preparation for the endowment ordinance. At the end of the ordinance you receive ability to wear the garment which helps you always remember the covenants that you make in the temple but more importantly it helps you remember Jesus Christ every day. Here is the statement read to your parents every time they have a temple interview:

“The garment... is symbolic of Jesus Christ. When you put on your garment, you put on a sacred symbol of Jesus Christ. Wearing it is an outward expression of your inner commitment to follow Him. The garment is also a reminder of your temple covenants. You should wear the garment day and night throughout your life. When it must be removed for activities that cannot reasonably be done while wearing the garment, seek to restore it as soon as possible. As you keep your covenants, including the sacred privilege to wear the garment as instructed in the initiatory ordinances, you will have greater access to the Savior’s mercy, protection, strength, and power.”
