Distinguish the difference between sharecroppers and tenant farmers.
Sharecroppers - Instead of working for wages, they provided the labor and received a share of their employer’s crop. (Employers provided land, seed, tools, a mule, and a cabin). They did not have any monetary income. / Tenant farmers - The farmers who rented the land and they farmed from the landowner. They worked independently. (They grew whatever crops they wanted). They actually gained a source of income.
