Can I report an incident with a difficult/threatening customer?

Yes, there is a Customer Incident Reporting form on the OH&S tab of the Inet, under Incident Reporting.

Is it considered harassment if my leader (direct report) asks me what the status of a project is?

No, when done respectfully and in good faith, steps taken by a leader to manage their employees' workload is not considered harassment.

Do Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee members get any training?

Yes they get both committee safety training as well all members get First Aid training.

Do contractors need to be vetted before they start work?

Yes, using an outside provider called SafeContractor (Cognibox). A link for contractors to apply is on the OH&S page of the Inet.

How do I return to work after an injury or illness?

Eastlink has an RTW Program to help people safely return to work after injury or illness; it involves input from a health care practitioner, the employee, their leader and the OH&S and/or HR department.

Are there specific violence prevention plans for each workplace?

Yes, plans to prevent violence and harassment in each workplace will be shared with all employees.

What does it mean to meet Quorum at a JOHSC meeting?

It means that no less than 50% of the members are present, and that no more than 50% are management representatives.

Do all lunchroom garbage bins need to have a lid?
All bins where food waste is deposited must have a lid. Recycling bins do not need one.

Who completes the Worker's Compensation forms?

The employee completes their own report of injury (the Form 6) and OH&S will submit the employer's report (Form 7).

Does Eastlink report incidents of violence and harassment in the workplace?

Yes, a report of occurrences of violence and harassment is provided to the Federal government annually. No information regarding the identity of persons involved is shared.
