Elijah challenged Ahab and the prophets of Baal. Elijah and the false prophets each made an altar and sacrificed a bull upon it, but neither lit a fire. The false prophets called out to Baal, but there was no answer. Elijah then poured water over his altar three times and, when he prayed, God sent fire to consume the sacrifice, proving that he was the true God.
