I enjoy making cinema workers suffer

I personally enjoy this film due to its amazing soundtrack, its combination of classical kaiju "man in costume" elements and modern CGI. PLUS! This film was on a relatively low budget in compared to how great it was, only approximately 15 million dollars. It has a great story of a Japanese kamikaze pilot trying to cope after surviving WW2, and the horrors represented as this famous kaiju.

This film stars an insurance salesman Walter Neff, who plots with a woman to kill her husband in order to claim a life insurance payment, arousing the suspicion of claims manager Barton Keyes. The title refers to a clause which doubles life insurance payouts when death occurs in a statistically rare manner, or in this case, a train accident. I will be very mad if anyone doesn't get this one.

A massive art inspiration to me, through not just its music but its direction, animation, and amazing storyline. The protagonist is one of my favourite superheros, and during their initial comic release, they were named "Kid Arachnid".

This 1941 film stars Humphrey Bogart as the hard-boiled private detective Sam Spade, alongside the manipulative femme fatale Brigid O'Shaughnessy. Set in San Francisco, the plot revolves around the pursuit of a priceless, jewel-encrusted falcon statuette, with each character willing to resort to deceit, betrayal, and even murder to claim it.

Cinemas don't actually make that much money off of selling tickets. This however, is their main money maker, as they get ~90% of the profit.

Not just a war film, I love this movie due to its exploration into physics and the struggles with communism in America and the implicit but strong representation of the struggle of minorities, such as Jews.

Probably one of my highest rated movies, it is inspired by the true story of a 1962 tour of the Deep South by African-American pianist Don Shirley and Italian-American bouncer and later actor Frank "Tony Lip" Vallelonga, who served as Shirley's driver and bodyguard. The exploration of oppression and personality made me enjoy this film immensely, plus its pretty funny in some parts.

This film follows a prominent lawyer in Depression-era Alabama educating his children against the Jim Crow laws whilst defending a black man who is wrongfully indicted for the sexual exploitation of a white woman. The Pulitzer Prize–winning novel that this film was based off of was also covered by our very own literature students last year!

Based/Adapted from (most likely) one of my favourite SCI-FI books, the film adapted it greatly (aside from a few scenes). Frank Herbert (the author of the book), was an amazing writer, and although the sequels are quite complicated, I enjoyed the view into the human struggle against static civilisations, corruption of power, and the journey of revenge/duty of family. Additionally, the ecology of the main planet is fascinating, alongside the ficticous religion.

As it is written, may thy knife chip and shatter!

In the 1960s, this film (Directed by Alfred Hitchcock) stars a secretary on the run for stealing a bunch of money who takes refuge at a secluded California motel owned by a repressed man and his overbearing mother. This film also violated the Hays Code through a particularly notable scene.

In Psycho, viewers actually see the toilet flushing. The controversial latrine cameo occurs when Marion Crane throws evidence into the loo and pulls the handle.

Yes this is real.
