Let's be introspective! Consider how learning styles and preferences can change from person to person. What are different studying strategies? Now consider what yours are!
Learning styles: independent/together, every day/one sitting, quiet/with background music, in your room/in your library Different strategies work for different people (discuss). In general, you should employ multiple strategies that work together comprehensively towoards you overall ability to internalize information and knowledge. For example, you could plan to go to office hours after you've tried some homework problems on your own, and also plan to go to general tutoring sessions to get a concept explained to you by others who've taken your course because office hours are limited and you can't get all of your questions answered.

Jasmine was near the top of her class in high school. However, as a freshman in college, her courses have proved to be much more challenging, and as a result she spends all of her free time studying and going to office hours. She also usually works alone on everything because she wants to "really understand the material." In spite of her efforts, she is still not performing as well as she likes in her courses, and she doesn't know what to do to improve. What advice would you give Jasmine about her study habits?
Jasmine likely needs to form a study group with her classmates. She can more efficiently learn her weaknesses and have them addressed within her group. Likewise, she will be able to help others in the group, which will improve her understanding of the material. She should also continue to study alone as well to ensure she has mastered the material on her own in preparaption for her exams.
