Who was Herod Antipas?

  • Herod had some spiritual sensitivity but it was the large displays as opposed to the spirit. 

  • Herod and Pilate had a fracture in relationship due to Pilate’s murder of Galilean citizens however their joint condemnation of Jesus united them. 

  • Herodias following Jesus death persuaded Herod into going to Rome and demanding to be made King. 


    • For this act Herod and Herodias were banished to Spain where they both Died.

The Am ha-Aretz were the common poor people. The Pharisee's did not like them due to their lack of education on the Law. Jesus viewed them as his lost sheep

  • There was not a single particular view but overlapping and conflicting point of views culminating in what was called the Second Temple of Judaism 

  • Judaism was primarily a way of life as opposed to a religion


    • Many people had different ideas on religious points which would be accomodated
