A career plan:

a.  Takes the place of a resume.
b.  Helps you decide on the education and training you need.
c.  Defines your strengths.
d.  Both b and c

d.  Both b and c

A career plan lists short- and long-term career goals and the actions you can take to achieve them. Career plans can help you make decisions about what classes to take, and identify the extracurricular activities, research, and internships that will make you a strong job candidate.

How many hours per week is considered FULL-TIME employment?

If you work more than that number of hours in a week, you are required to be paid an OVERTIME wage.  How much more is that than your normal wage?

a)1.5X more
b) 2X more
c)3X more

40 hours

a) 1.5 X more, also known as "time and a half"

If you make $10/hour and you work 48 hours in a week, you will make: (10 X 40 = 400) + ((1.5 X 10=15) X 8 = 120),  400 + 120 = $520 ($40 more than straight pay!)

If you are planning to leave a job, you should give your boss a "___ weeks notice".  Fill in the blank and explain what that means.

A "2 weeks notice" is the standard, which means you tell the boss 2 weeks before your proposed last day.

Be prepared for them to ask you to stay and train your replacement OR for them to stop scheduling you after you give notice (sometimes items disappear and people don't try as hard when they know they are leaving a job)

What is the current minimum wage?

Describe the different between a minimum wage and a living wage?

The minimum wage is $7.25/hr, which is the lowest amount an employer can legally pay an employee.  It's $2.13/hr for employs who make most of their wage through tips (like servers)

A living wage is the minimum amount someone should be paid to afford basic necessities like housing, utilities, food and transportation. It varies by city and state because the cost of living varies. It is closer to $13-$16/hr
