In John 5:14, when Jesus tells the man “stop sinning or something worse may happen,” He isn’t talking about another sickness. He means that staying in sin can hurt our hearts and our relationship with God. Jesus is warning him that being far from God is worse than any sickness. Jesus wants the man to live in a way that follows God so he can stay close to Him and safe.
