“When the people saw the sign that he had done, they said, ‘This is indeed the Prophet who is to come into the world!’ Perceiving then that they were about to come and take him by force to make him king, Jesus withdrew again to the mountain by himself.” (John 6:14–15)

Why does the healing of the man born blind become controversial with the Pharisees, and how does it connect to Jesus’ teaching about the Sabbath?

The healing is controversial because it was done on the Sabbath, and the Pharisees debated the lawfulness of Jesus’ actions. Jesus demonstrates that the Sabbath is meant for doing good and showing God’s works, not merely for legalistic restrictions. By healing, He shows that He is Lord of the Sabbath, emphasizing its true purpose: to serve people and glorify God.
“Now it was a Sabbath day when Jesus made the mud and opened his eyes.” (John 9:14)
“‘The Son of Man is Lord of the Sabbath.’” (Matthew 12:8 / parallels in Mark 2:28, Luke 6:5)
