How should Supplies be stored on shelves and off floors
 Must be 6” off floor. Must be 18” below sprinklers – 24” from ceiling if no sprinklers.  Items should be removed from shipping cartons before storage to prevent contamination with soil/debris that might be on the cartons.  Outer shipping boxes may not be left in clinical areas due to risk of environmental contamination. Supplies should be stored in plastic, washable containers; storage in cardboard is strongly discouraged

The provider or designee obtains and reviews the complete list of current medications including over the counter and herbals. Medication information may be included in the clinic note. Prior to leaving a patient is offerred a copy of the After Visit Summary from Maestro with a list of his or her medications. The patient is lasways encouraged to bring the bottles of their medication with them to each visit.

Bags of IV fluids are ALWAYS single use.

What can be stored in facility refrigerators?
Refrigerators must be clean and well maintained. No expired food or medications. Store patient food, medications, and specimens in separate labeled refrigerators.

If controlled drugs are delivered to Pickett Road clinic by courier, what process does the clinci follow in order to verify the accuracy of the order.
The nurse and courrier or another nurse inventories the contents of the package to verify that order is correct and packages are proplerly sealed. Signatures of those doing the verifications are captured on the IR 100 form or separate clinic form and filed.

What are Non-critical items to be cleaned per policy
 Non-critical items are those that come into contact with intact skin. Non-critical items should not contact blood or body fluids.  Some examples are BP cuffs, exam tables. It is strongly recommended that these items be cleaned daily and PRN when soiled.  Single use disposable BP cuffs are to be changed daily and when visibly soiled.
