The ultrasound system and transducers must be cleaned and disinfected prior to and after each exam. After using the transducer determine if any part of the system or transducer came into contact with broken skin or mucosal. If no, clean and disinfect the system and transducer to a low level (non-critical use). If yes, clean and disinfect the system and transducer to a high level (semi-critical use).
