The mariners blamed Jonah for the storm. When they threw Jonah into the sea, the sea became calm.

This shows God has control over heavens and the earth. He can raise the storm and calm the sea. He can arrange the fish to swallow Jonah and to spit him out.

The king decreed that they all fast even the animals. They fasted and put on sackcloth and sat in ashes.

God wants all man to be saved whether they are good or bad. We should preach the gospel to everyone, even the ones we don't like.
