The concept of the "chosen people" does not mean that Jewish people feel as though they are better than others, but rather . . .
What is . . . that Jews considered themselves to be God's Chosen People as God chose Abraham and led him to monotheism. Jewish people were to be the keepers of the covenant (binding agreement between God and humanity) on earth. The idea of "chosen" is reciprocal, with God choosing humanity and humanity choosing God.
