This court is the lowest level in the Judicial Branch. It is where most cases begin.

This case is the result of President Adams leaving and appointing judges that he felt would prevent the incoming President Jefferson from doing his job. When Jefferson found some papers not filed, he refused to appoint Adam's judges in their job.
