Before Kappa Delta Pi existed 2 educational fraternities existed: Phi Delta Kappa and Pi Kappa Mu and they merged together under a new establishment of Phi Delta Kappa. At the time, the Illinois Education Club petitioned to gain a chapter under Phi Delta Kappa. Why did Phi Delta Kappa decline the invitation?
Phi Delta Kappa declined this invitation because it is the spirit of Phi Delta Kappa to be an educational fraternity thus women were not allowed and the Illinois Education Club promoted a coeducational society
