Why does insulin need to be given after a meal?
There needs to be glucose from the food in the pets body prior to insulin so that their blood sugar levels don't drop from the medications.
Important Fact! Insulin needs to be done within an hour of giving the food, or it can cause blood sugar spikes!
Why is it never good to pull hard on a Brachycephalic dogs leash if it is around their neck?
It further limits their constricted airways, and it can cause their eyes to become dislodged.
Harnesses are always preferred for brachycephalic breeds!
If a cat has just come in for boarding and is hissing and doesn't want to leave their cat carrier you should reach in and pull them out immediately.
False! Put their carrier into their cage and shut the cage door. Some cats just need some time to feel brave and exit their carrier, and being able to exit their carrier alone and on their terms helps.

Scenario Time! A small dog is inside their cage with a leash around their neck. You are trying to safely remove the lease, but they are in the corner and try biting every time you reach your hand in. How should you safely remove the leash.
Use the handle of a fly swatter and very slowly slip it under the dogs leash. Wriggle the leash slowly off their head. It is always good to attempt to let them smell the fly swatter first! This keeps both you and the boarder safe!
What are the techniques we use when we have barrier aggressive boarders?
We put them close to the door so it is easy to get them outside, we walk them in and out on a leash, we cover their run door with a sheet while walking other dogs, that way they cannot see them.
What is Giardia?
