What is our policy on walks?

How can we make walks fun?

A teacher in the front and a teacher in the back. No breaks in the lines, no children on the grass or road. Stop and allow others to catch up if there are breaks!

We can do transitional games to make walks fun- see Notion for reference!

- Offer a quiet activity (reading a book, making a bracelet, Lego, etc.)

- Offer a quiet space

- If ratio allows, do smaller groups to support the needs of those who become more easily overwhelmed

- Check the needs of the child: Are they hungry? Are the tired? Is the environment supporting to the needs of the child?

100

What is the first thing that you should do when you arrive to your shift?

Trick question- sign into Deputy! And then Slack and then Dashboard!

FALSE- all children must have an adult escort them into the building where an educator will be there to greet them.

PRAISE! Children thrive off of praise- when we see them doing something kind, let them know. Celebrate the small things!

200

What is a camp leader "star of the day"?! This is new so guess!

Every day, 2 children who had incredible days the day prior, will receive and Awesome Award and be star of the day. They will get the opportunity to choose the activities for our exploration station!

300

NO- children must be supervised at ALL times

At what point are we able to be on our cellphones?

If there is an emergency ONLY! At no point should staff be on their phones.

At the beginning of every shift, check Slack. At the end of every shift, check Slack. Throughout the day, I will send messages on Slack where you can use the iPad to check the updates.

300

When should a feedback report be done?

- To show off good behavior to parents

- When a child gets hurt

- If a child is physical with another child

- If a child is using inappropriate language

300

DEMONSTRATE MORNING CIRCLE!!

Team effort- split into groups and show me!

300

When should we give out HEROES prizes?

The prizes you have are to last the entire summer- when you notice a child going above and beyond, give them a prize! I would say 2-3 a day is more than enough!

400

If our head counts are wrong and as a team we are not getting the right number of children, what should we do?

- stop what we are doing and perform attendance and head count.

400

What policy do we have that requires a call home immediately?

If a child hits their head we call home immediately to inform parents!

400

How should the space look when children arrive?

Every evening, the closers will clean the space for the next morning. They will then set the tables for the morning crew. When the morning crew gets in, they will do the reminder of the set up. In the mornings children are in their zones (not running around, not being chaotic, a calm environment for children and parents to walk into).

Check Notion for Daily schedule!

400

What is something you should always be mindful of when working with children and planning activities?

Every child is different and not all children will enjoy the same activities. Encourage children to try new things and to do the planned activities, children may discover a new talent :)
