These parents have three children in Kids Ministry at Downtown.

Who are Walt and Abbey Lengel (parents of Felix, Finn, and Juniper Lengel)?

Knowing parents names is one of the biggest ways we can communicate intentionality and hospitality to them during pick-up and drop-off. If you don't know their names, just ask them! This goes leaps and bounds in helping them feel more comfortable entrusting their child to someone they likely don't know.

100

The Kids Ministry policy in which an adult can never be alone with a child.

What is the rule-of-two?

Staff and volunteers must always follow the "rule-of-two" when interacting with children. There should always be at least one other adult within eyeshot at all times. Ideally, this second person will be a staff member or an approved Kids ministry volunteer. An adult should never be alone with a child during a Kids ministry event. This guideline should be followed in person, through text message or phone call, and on social media.

The snack and their corresponding hallway on Sundays.

What is the nursery hallway and cheerios; preschool hallway and goldfish; and grade school and goldfish/fruit snacks?

Restocks of all snacks and paper cups can be found in the Kids storage closet (usually in the back right corner in a large plastic tub but sometimes can be spotted in their natural habitat, an Amazon box).

100

This hallway has green rolling bins.

What is the preschool hallway?

We use large rolling bins to transport and store all of our Kids Ministry related things at Austin High. Storage here is limited and strategic, so if you see something in a bin that is old/broken/doesn't need to be there, please (check with a coach or staff member and) throw it away!

What is a nametag?

Kids wear their nametags so we know who they are, and so should we! Nametags and sharpies are located nearby the curriculum and/or coaches bins. As soon as you arrive on Sunday (either 8:30 or 10:30), please throw a nametag on your shirt so parents and kids can address you by your name! This increases feelings of safety and hospitality.

The mascot of summer series this year.

What is a knight?

Every summer, we do a "summer series" where we spend every Sunday for 2-3 months diving deeper into one specific topic... extended VBS vibes! This summer, we worked through the armor of God!

200

The person who sends you emails on the weeks you serve with curriculum and announcements.

Who is Christopher Long?

Each week (historically on Thursday but actually moving to be Wednesdays now), Christopher sends out an incredible email to all people who have "accepted" or are still "pending" in their serving position for the upcoming Sunday. These emails are filled with Sunday's curriculum for all hallways and important information about upcoming Sunday events.

Please make it a goal to "accept" or "decline" your serving position as soon as possible - no hard feelings if you can't make it! Just let us know as soon as you can so we can make other arrangements (and so you don't get extra emails you don't need to receive). If you had previously accepted and can no longer serve, please let your coach or a staff member know directly via text or email!

What is destroy their shirt?

Please do not donate these shirts to Goodwill when you stop serving. We wear our shirts every time we serve to communicate to parents we are supposed to be there. As aggressive and unflattering as the red is, we need to be diligent in wearing them as much as we can :-)

What is 100?!

On any given Sunday, we are seeing over 200 children under the age of 18 walk through the doors of Austin High School. Family Ministry here is growing, and you are an integral piece of why! The largest group of the unreached within our church is in your classroom each Sunday.
