what is the fascia of the muscles of the tibia?

crural fascia

100

What is the origin and insertion of the Vastus Medialis? (extends from femur->patella->tibia)

O: Shaft of the femur
I: Crosses the patella and inserts by means of the patellar ligament on the tibial tuberosity

100

what are the characteristics of the vastus medialis? (in a group of four muscles)

Characteristics: most medial of the four muscles

100

Who am I? I am a large, flat meaty muscle that lies on the craniolateral aspect of the tibia. my origin is on the proximal end of the tibia and the fibula; my insertion is along the medial surface of the first metatarsal after passing beneath the extensor retinaculum;

Tibialis Cranialis

100

Who am I? I am a thick muscle, cranial to semitendinosus, lying on medial aspect of femur. My origin is on the ischial tuberosity and ramus of the ischium; my insertion is on the medial epicondyle of the femur and adjacent medial surface of the tibia

Semimembranosus

200

what is the fascia of the semitendinosus?

caudal femoral fascia and gluteal and crural fascia

200

what is the origin and insertion of the Vastus Lateralis? (similar to vastus medialis)

O: shaft and greater trochanter of the femur
I:in common with the vestus medialis and rectus femoris

200

what are the characteristics of the vastus lateralis? (thigh)

Characteristics: covers cranial and lateral surface of the thigh

200

I am a large, thick, muscle that covers the lateral surface of the "thigh" or femur. My origin is on the ischial tuberosity; my insertion is on the proximal 1/3 of the tibia and lateral patella

Biceps Femoris

200

Who am I? I am a long muscle, that forms the caudal border of the femur. My origin is on the ischial tuberosity; my insertion is on the medial surface of the tibia

Semitendinosus

300

what is the fascia of the quadriceps complex?

Fascia: Lateral femoral fascia

300

what is the origin and insertion of the rectus femoris? (from ilium->same as vastus)

O: From the ilium near the acetabulum
I: in common with the vastus medialis and lateralis

300

what are the characteristics of the rectus femoris? (rests b/w two muscles)

Characteristics: spindle shaped muscle that rests between the vastus medialis and lateralis

300

Who am I? I lie on the lateral surface of the tibia, and I am the most superficial of the peroneus group. My origin is on the head and lateral surface of the shaft of the fibula; my insertion is on the proximal ends of all five metatarsals

Peroneus Longus

300

Who am I? I am a broad muscle, cranial and partially covered by semimembranosus. My origin is on the ramus of the pubis and ischium; my insertion is the shaft of the femur.

Adductor Femorism

400

what is the fascia of the biceps femoris?

lateral femoral fascia

400

what is the origin and insertion of the vastus intermedius? (similar to other two vastus)

O: almost entire shaft of the femur
I: In common with the other three members of this complex

400

what are the characteristics of the vastus intermedius? (apart of 4 muscles)

Characteristics: the deepest of the quadriceps muscles

400

Who am I? I am a flat muscle located beneath the plantaris. My origin is on the proximal part of the fibula; my insertion is

Soleus

400

what is the fascia of the adductors?

Fascia: within the gluteal and femoral fascia, wraps around cranial to caudal

500

what is the fascia of the semimembranosus?

medial femoral fascia (passes gluteal & crural fascia)

500

what is the origin and insertion of the adductor longus?
(from part of pelvis to femur)

O: craniomedial border of the pubis
I: middle portion of the linea aspera of the femur

500

what are the characteristics of the adductor longus?

Characteristics: cranial to the adductor femoris, thin muscle, triangle, caudal to femoral vessels and saphenous nerve, all of which lie in the ilieopectineal fascia

500

Who am I? I possess two heads, a lateral and medial head. My origin is the lateral head that arises from the lateral border of the patella, the superficial fascia of the shank, the sesamoid bone located above the lateral epicondyle of the femur and an aponeurosis from the plantaris and adjacent tibia. The medial head originates from the sesamoid bone above the medial epicondyle of the femur and its distal adjacent shaft; my insertion is by means of a common powerful tendon, the achilles tendon, formed by the individual tendons of the gastrocnemius, the soles and the plantaris muscles, that inserts on the proximal end of the calcaneus.

Gastrocnemius

what is the origin and insertion of the TFL? (from part of pelvis->FL->patella)

O: ventral border of the ilium, fascia of surrounding hip muscles (gluteal fascia)
I: into fascia lata. Continues distally and covers part of the vastus lateralis and medialis and then inserts on the surface of the patella
