Antiglycolytic agent (substance that inhibits or prevents glycolysis by the cells of the blood)
Used for alcohol determinations and glucose tests.
What is NaF (Sodium Fluoride)
1. Alcohol values are stable because glycolysis (the metabolism of glucose or sugar in the form of alcohol) is prevented.
2. NaF inhibits growth of bacteria and protects the specimen from an increase in alcohol resulting from fermentation by bacteria.
