Etiology-explanation of 'why'? Supernatural-non-realistic powers, something a human can not do. Ancient setting-the story is set in the past. Sacred/true function-what it says about their religious beliefs. Symbolic/metaphorical-hyperboles, similes, or metaphors used in the story. Oral tradition-passed down from generation to generation and possibly changed because of that. Cultural context-based on what their culture believes and their religious practices.
