A word in a position before its object. The most common are in, to, and of.
What is a preposition
A book which contains information on word meanings, pronunciations, and origins.
What is a dictionary?
An affix placed before a word, base, or another of the same to modify meaning.
What is a prefix?
Punctuation used to mark the end of a declarative sentence.
What is a period?
Use of this gives human characteristics to animals, inanimate objects, or abstract notions,especially as a rhetorical figure.
What is personification?
It is a word that expresses an action, an occurrence, or a state of being.
What is a verb?
It is a dictionary of synonyms and antonyms.
What is a thesaurus?
An affix that follows the element to which it is added.
What is a suffix?
As well as being used to indicate a pause in the flow of a sentence, this punctuation mark can also be used to separate items in a list.
What is a comma?
An obvious and intention exaggeration, for example; "I will wait for eternity."
What is hyperbole?
This is a word that describes nouns or pronouns.
What is an adjective?
A book, set of books, optical disc, mobile device, or online informational resource containing articles on various topics, usually in alphabetical arrangement, covering all branches of knowledge or, less commonly, all aspects of one subject.
What is an encyclopedia?
This prefix can mean "before", "prior to", "in advance of", "beforehand", "early", and "in front of".
What is "pre" ?
A mark of inquiry. It is used to indicate doubt and at the end of every Jeopardy answer.

A figure of speech in which a term or phrase is applied to something to which it is not literally applicable in order to suggest a resemblance.
Example: "The curtain of night fell upon us."

A word used to modify verbs, adjectives, and others of its kind.
What is an adverb?
It can be a bound collection of maps or a bound volume of charts, plates, or tables illustrating any subject.
What is an atlas?
A prefix meaning “behind,” “after,” “later,” “subsequent to,” “posterior to”.
What is post?
These are used to express strong emotion.
What is an exclamation mark?
A literary device that repeats a speech sound in a sequence of words that are close to each other.
Example: Peter Piper picked a peck of pickled peppers.
What is alliteration?
Used in place of nouns, these words provide variety and efficiency in writing.
What is a pronoun?
A sequential arrangement of material, especially in alphabetical or numerical order.
What is an index?
A prefix meaning “against,” “opposite of,” “antiparticle of,” used in the formation of compound words, and used freely in combination with elements of any origin.
What is anti?
This punctuation mark tells readers that two closely related items should be thought of together. It is stronger than a comma, but not as strong as a period.
What is a semicolon?
