This is a cup made of gold or silver. It holds the wine for the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass and represents Christ's sacrifice, redemption, and the New Covenant
Chalice
A long band of silk of the same width as the maniple, but 3 times in length. It is worn around the neck and crossed on the breast. It is worn on the shoulders to remind us of the cross Our Lord carried.
Stole
This sacrament removes original sin, makes a person a member of the Church, and is necessary for entrance into Heaven.
Baptism
Participating in this is the Church’s greatest act of worship.
The Mass
This color is worn on feasts of martyrs and Pentecost.
Red
This is a plate of gold or silver upon which the large bread for consecrations rests until the Offertory.
Paten
Outer and chief vestment of the priest. It is the essential Mass vestment and exclusively reserved for the priest. It is usually ornamented with a large cross on the back and sometimes on the front as well.
Chasuble
In this sacrament, sins are forgiven, the soul is healed, and the penitent is reconciled with God and the Church.
Confession or Reconciliation
This posture shows readiness and respect during the Gospel.
Standing
The penitential time when we remember Jesus’ suffering, death, and resurrection, and we often use purple vestments.
Lent
This is a linen cloth used for wiping the chalice, and the fingers and mouth of the celebrant after Communion. It is spread over the cup of the chalice at the beginning and end of Mass.
Purificator
A cord of linen fastened about the waist to confine the alb. Symbolizes chastity and also readiness for hard work in God's service.
Cincture
This sacrament continues the apostolic ministry, carrying on the work of Jesus’ apostles in the Church.

The longest liturgical season
This is a square pocket-shaped piece of linen with cardboard inserted in order to stiffen it. It is placed over the chalice to prevent dust or other matter falling into it.
Pall
An oblong shaped fine piece of linen. The priest places it on his head for a moment, and then allows it to rest upon his shoulders. It is the "helmet of salvation."
Amice
I am the sacrament in which a baptized person is strengthened by the gifts of the Holy Spirit.
Confirmation
Why does the deacon incense the people during Mass?

White or gold
A square piece of linen. In size and appearance, it resembles a small napkin. It is spread out on the altar, and the chalice is placed upon it. During the Mass, the Sacred Host rests for a time on this item.
Corporal
A strip of silken cloth worn on the left arm of the priest. An emblem of the tears of penance, the fatigue of the priestly office and its joyful reward in Heaven.
Maniple
These sacraments can only be received once because they leave an indelible spiritual mark on the soul.
