Elder Michael T. Ringwood tells a story about being a young missionary. He moved into an area with an elder he didn’t know. Other missionaries talked about how the elder was struggling, but as Elder Ringwood got to know this elder he found he was one of the most obedient and faithful missionaries he had known. Elder Ringwood wanted to tell the mission that they had misjudged this elder.
How did Elder Ringwood’s Mission President respond to his desire to correct this misunderstanding?
His mission president said, “Heavenly Father knows this young man is a successful missionary, and so do I.” He added, “And now you know too, so who else really matters?”
He taught Elder Ringwood that praise, position, power, honor, or authority is not important in service.
