On the other hand, he paints Burr as a widower with only a daughter - who has already been taken care of by her husband financially - and much less to live for.

This shows that Miranda’s account contradicts the truth. In the musical, Burr seems to not want to duel and barely prepared. While Hamilton did not prepare at all.  Miranda paints Burr as a scared, sad man, who doesn’t want to die. In this way, we garner more respect and understanding of Burr.
