The Child Rights Network praises the senate for passing the “End Child Rape Bill” which raises  the age of statutory rape from 12 y/o to  16 y/o, thus amending some provisions of Anti-Rape Law.

What is the essence/importance of this bill?

It will raise the age of consent (the age from which someone is deemed capable of consenting to sexual activity). It will also be  easier for child rape victims to access justice but at the same time nurtures a safer environment where children have stronger protection against sexual violence.
