You should never drive through deep water on the roadway. If you don’t know how deep a puddle or flooded road is, you should avoid it at all costs. Even driving through shallow puddles can make driving dangerous.

Do not drive through water:

  • It can wet your brakes and render them ineffective. If your brakes get wet, you can dry them by applying the brakes a few times while moving slowly.
  • You can hit hidden potholes or debris and damage your tires.
  • You can lose control of your vehicle.
  • You can flood your engine and stall the car. Water in the engine can cause some serious mechanical damage, too.
  • Your vehicle can flood, sink, or float away.

Avoid-- if you can!
