What, and Where is the Canadian Shield?

The Canadian Shield refers to the exposed portion of the continental crust underlying the majority of the eastern coast of North America. 

The Shield is comprised mainly of shallow earth over Pre-cambrian, igneous and metamorphic rock.

Igneous rocks reflect volcanic activity, they form from the cooling and solidification of molten magma or lava, creating crystalline structures like basalt or granite. 

Metamorphic rocks are pre-existing rocks transformed by intense heat, pressure, or fluids deep underground without melting. They reflect tectonic plate movements.
