Anything that has mass and takes up space

How large or small an object is
What is Volume?
No definite shape or volume
What is Gas?
Soap scum forms when dissolved soap reacts with tiny particles or minerals dissolved in tap water
What is Formation of a Solid?
Mixtures that have parts that are not uniformly mixed together
What is Heterogenous Mixture?
The ability of a material to be attracted to a magnet, without needing to be a magnet itself
What is Magnetism?
Produces new matter with different properties from the original matter
What is Chemical Change?
Has a definite volume, but does not have a definite shape
What is Liquid?
While a marshmallow is toasting, it gives off a pleasant smell.
What is Change in Odor?
A mixture of substances that are blended so completely that the mixture looks the same everywhere
What is Solution?
Can be observed and or measured
What is Physical Property?
Matter is neither created nor destroyed during a physical change or a chemical reaction
What is Conservation of Mass?
The particles are tightly packed and vibrate in place
What is a Solid?
Dropping antacid tablets into water will release bubbles
What is Formation of a Gas?
Mixture that is uniform throughout
What is Homogeneous Mixture?
How energy, such as heat, can move through material
What is Conductivity?
Heterogeneous mixture in which the parts are so small that they do not settle out
What is Colloid?
Particles are very far apart and they can move around each other very easily.
What is Gas?
Burning wood gives off light
What is Temperature Change?
A heterogeneous mixture that looks like it is the same throughout and can settle out over time
What is Suspension?
Can only be observed when there is a change in the type of matter
