What are the forms of Energy?
heat,light,sound, and movement.
What happens when two things hit each other?
One of them damages or/and one of the objects has to be moving.
Do all Objects change shape or bend when they are pushed in a Collisions?
All Solid Objects can bend or change shape when pushed in a Collisions.
What is independent variable?
This is the variable to change each time you test.
What is Energy?
Energy is what makes things happen. We need it to move, grow, heat up,or change things.
What are some Factors that Affect Damage in Collisions?
Size, Speed, Weight, Material, Temperature,Environment, Mass, Texture, Height, Gravity,Shape,Time, and Angle
Do you think applying any amount of force to any solid object would cause it to bend?
Yes applying any amount of force can cause the solid object to bend but only if it's getting pushed down.
What is a dependent variable?
this is the variable to observe the effects caused by changing the independent variable.
What is Kinetic Energy and What is Potential Energy?
Kinetic energy- is the energy is the energy of movement. ( If something is moving)
Potential energy- is stored energy.. Energy waiting to be used.
What are the Patterns in the Collisions?
Something always has to touch and some sort of force should happen.
Do you think that concrete would bend before it breaks when a contact force is applied to it?
Yes it would bend in the middle before it breaks when a contact force is applied to it.
These are the variables to keep constant in each test.
How does Kinetic and Potential Energy work together?
Energy can switch between potential energy. ( Like a roller coasters going up and down)
What are the two object that collided at first in the lesson?
Do you think that the concrete beam began to deform with a small amount of contact force at the start of the test or did it take a lot more force to start bending it?
It started off strong and then when even more force was applied to it started to bend and chip away small amounts of the beam and finally it would have been broken.
How much do you have to push on any object elastic limit for it to deform ? ( temporary vs. permanent ?)
You have to push past the objects elastic limit for it to deform temporary or permanently.
What is Conversation of Energy?
Energy isn't created or destroyed.. it just changes form.
What are the A,B,C collisions?
A Collisions- The moving object and the most fragile object hitting a non-moving object.
B Collisions- A fragile object hitting a moving first object.
C Collisions- Both the fragile and the other object are moving towards each other.
What were the 3 sources we used in this lesson?
A Slow-moving car colliding with a stationary car, Moving golf club colliding with a stationary golf ball, and moving baseball colliding with a stationary bat.
The maximum amount of deformation an object can withstand, until it will deform permanently.
